Se diferencia de otras catedrales en que su mira es norte-sur, no este-oeste, circunstancia que vino determinada por su ubicación como parte integrante del complejo del Palacio Real, desde el primer proyecto realizado por el Marqués de Cubas en el último tercio del siglo XIX.

It differs from other cathedrals because its focus is north-south, not east-west, a circumstance that was determined by its location as an integral part of the Royal Palace complex, since the first project carried out by the Marquis of Cubas in the last third of the XIX century.
